Text characters are written in blue above the keys. To access a character press the blue [ALPHA] key followed by the appropriate key - the cursor changes to [A]. To ‘lock’ the alpha key press [ALPHA] twice. To access lower case letters press [2nd] [ALPHA].

1.4 THE MENU KEYS

up down

Additional screens and menu bars provide functions and operations which are not represented by the keys on the calculator face.

For example, look at the multiplication key [ x ] above this we see [MATH] written in yellow. To access this menu press [2nd] [ x ], this gives a menu of additional mathematical functions :

Menu items are shown at the bottom line(s) of the display screen. The arrow at the extreme right of the menu bar indicates that there are more items on the menu. To move around the menu use the [MORE] key. To select a menu item from the bottom line of the display press the corresponding [F ] key below the item.

For example, press [F1] in the MATH menu to access a menu of number functions. Select an item from this menu, say [iPart] by pressing [F1]. We have selected a function which rounds off a number to a given number of decimal places - the expression is round(number, number of decimal places). Note that when an item is selected from the menu the name is copied to the cursor location in the working area of the screen:

To exit a menu press [EXIT]
