Casio fx-7700 | ||
1. Set up your calculator to work in degree mode.
2. Set up the following range by pressing [RANGE] and then entering the values. Once finished press [EXIT].
3. Clear all current functions and graph the functions shown below. (Note that [SHIFT] [VAR] [F1] [F1] [1] produces Y1.) Note that the last parameter in the definition of Y2 is 1E-3.
4. Your graphs should appear as:
5. Now graph the functions: Y1 = sin (20X) and Y2 = d/dx(Y1, X, 1E-3)
with this range setting:
6. It should be clear that the derivative of sin(ax) is kcos(ax).
(i) What value of a gives a value of k equal to 1?
(ii) What is the significance of this special value of a?
(iii) What is the period of sin(ax) when a takes this special value?
7. Confirm your answers to (6) using your calculator in an alternative way.
8. What can you say about the derivative of cos(x)?
